Welcome to Year 5

Welcome to our Year 5 page; we have two classes – 5CL and 5LG. Here you will be able to read about the exciting things that we do throughout the year and use the links below to see the curriculum that we follow. Miss Jones (Y6 Teacher) is the Phase Leader for Year 5 and 6.

Meet the Teachers

Our Year 5 team consists of Mr. Lewis (5CL Teacher), Ms Greathead (5LG Teacher), Mr McGee (Teaching Assistant), Miss Rowan (Teaching Assistant) and Miss Rogerson (1:1 Teaching Assistant). Any of our Year 5 team will be happy to talk to you about your child’s needs and interests.

PE

5LG have PE on a Monday afternoon and 5CL have PE on a Wednesday afternoon. Children should wear their PE kit on the correct PE day. PE is a compulsory element of the primary curriculum and all children must take part. We expect children to wear the correct PE kit.

Homework and Spellings 

Homework is handed out every Friday which will include activities to secure learning from class activities. 

Homework MUST be returned by Wednesday of the following week – a record is kept of this. 

Spellings are handed out every Friday and tested the following Friday.

Reading 

Reading is a fundamental aspect of children’s learning. Please make sure that your child brings their book bag to school every day along with their home reading books and reading record. Please read with your child at least 3 times per week and remember to comment and sign their reading record. This will allow staff to see how much your child is reading and enables school and home to work together in promoting your child’s reading journey.
