Any of our year 5 team will be happy to talk to you about your child’s need and interests.
Year 5 have PE with our coach Brian. PE is a compulsory subject and children are expected to have the correct kit, yellow t-shirt, black shorts and black pumps. Year 5 PE day is on Wednesdays for 5MC and Thursdays for 5JPB, please ensure that your child’s name is on ALL items of clothing. Year 5 go swimming in the autumn term.
Homework and Spellings
Homework is handed out every Friday – which will include activities to secure learning from class activities. The tasks will be based around English/Spelling, Maths and occasionally may take the form of a learning log (research based, child-led tasks about a specific subject).
Homework MUST be returned by Wednesday of the following week – a record is kept of this.
At the start of the year, the year 5/6 spelling list is handed out. Please ensure you are practicing these with your child regularly.
Reading is a fundamental aspect of children’s learning. Please make sure that your child brings their book bag to school every day along with their home reading books and reading record. Please read with your child at least 3 times per week and remember to comment and sign their reading record. This will allow staff to see how much your child is reading and enables school and home to work together in promoting your child’s reading journey.
