What Is Early Help?

A school’s early help offer provides timely support to children and families before problems become severe, involving services like parenting programs, activity groups, mentoring and specialist help for emotional or physical needs. This process begins with an Early Help conversation and can lead to an Early Help Assessment (EHA) to identify needs and create a personalised, multi-agency plan with the family’s consent and involvement.

  • Purpose: Support, it’s a response to emerging issues or concerns in a child’s life to prevent problems from escalating rather than to wait until things get worse. The aim is to help children, young people and their families early on.
  • Support Spectrum: It’s part of a continuum of support, providing help for families who don’t meet the threshold for statutory social care intervention.  It is not a single service, the support is delivered by a system – local authority and partner services, this can be education, housing, health and mental health services working together.
  • Everyone’s Responsibility: Early help is a shared responsibility, aiming to ensure children, young people and families are safe, happy and can reach their full potential.

EARLY HELP AT WELLESBOURNE

At Wellesbourne Primary & Nursery School we are always here to listen to any concerns that you may have with regards to your child’s welfare. We have a passionate Safeguarding & Pastoral Team who are on hand to offer you and your child support, should you ever need it.

Support can range from initial conversations with our Learning Mentor, Miss Moore or our Safeguarding Lead, Mrs Willshire and can also involve our school nurse, our attendance officer, local hosing or a local hub.
