Our Computing curriculum has been carefully planned, with learning opportunities and assessment milestones for each year group built in to ensure progression. We believe in a spiral approach and children may revisit, in an age-appropriate way, key learning, knowledge and skills so as to embed these. We have a specialist Computing teacher who teaches the subject across school.

The aims of Computing at Wellesbourne are:

– to give children the skills they will need to live in the wider world

– to develop our pupils into confident and independent learners who understand how ICT can support them purposefully and safely in their learning and beyond

– challenge their thinking and to become inspired by technology

– find their learning enjoyable as well as challenging ensuring that they become resilient and confident learners.

Embedded through children’s learning in Computing is a constant message around e-safety. This is to ensure that our pupils feel safe and confident in their use of ICT both in school and beyond, supporting the development of good mental health and positive wellbeing.
Through high quality teaching, we intend to ensure our pupils are confident users of ICT, know how to use ICT safely and are digitally literate.

Year 3 have been getting AI smart! They discovered how AI technologies are all around us, and how some of them work and assist us. With Auto Draw, we acknowledged that AI can get things wrong too!

Year 2 have been predicting and testing their algorithms in Computer Science. Their team work and de-bugging skills were excellent!
